At 09:00 Am after your breakfast, you will be picked up to experience a day in Muscat, Oman's vibrant capital, where tradition meets modernity. Nestled between the Gulf of Oman and the Al Hajar Mountains, the city offers a perfect blend of cultural heritage and contemporary energy. Highlights include:
After Breakfast at Ras Al Jinz Hotel, we will drive to Sur and begin our visit at the Ayjah Lighthouse, located in the historic Ayjah area. Though the 18-meter, 3-story tower with a domed roof is closed to visitors, you can walk around it and enjoy a panoramic view of Sur.
Next, explore Sur's Old Town, where you can discover old merchant houses around the lighthouse. We recommend exploring by foot to fully admire the forts of Sur: Sunaysilah Fort, Bilad Sur Castle, and Al Ayjah Fort. While there's not much to see inside, the carved wooden doors and ramparts are worth noting.
You'll also see the three Ayjah Watchtowers, once used to protect dhows entering the harbor.
We’ll then visit the Dhow Yard on the west side of the city, where you can see the historical Fatah Al Kheer Dhow boat, open to the public. If the doors are open, you can walk around and explore the shipyard.
After lunch in Sur, we’ll drive directly to Nizwa City, Overnights & dinner is served.
After breakfast at the Nizwa Hotel, we’ll explore the picturesque oasis city of Nizwa, known for its vibrant souks and the historic fortress with its impressive 17th-century round tower. In the afternoon, we’ll head to Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and visit traditional pottery factories in the area.
Next, we’ll travel to Al Hamra, a province in the Al-Dakhliya Governorate. This town, sitting over 600 meters above sea level, is home to several villages, including the scenic mountainside village of Misfat Al Abryeen. The town, built on a sloping rock slab, is known for its traditional multi-story mud houses with palm-frond ceilings.
Misfat Al Abryeen, perched 1,000 meters above sea level, offers visitors a unique experience with its traditional mud houses and breathtaking views from the village's viewing platform. The village’s terraced farms are irrigated by the ancient Aflaj system, a network of channels carved through the mountain rock, fed by natural springs. Walking the trails through the lush terraces of bananas, pomegranates, mangoes, and citrus trees, visitors can truly appreciate why this village is called a "mountain oasis."
Lunch will be served at a local house, and we will return to Nizwa hotel for an overnight, dinner is served at the hotel
After Breakfast in Nizwa Hotel, we will start a tour to Jabal Akhdar we’ll drive through scenic, winding roads to reach the plateau, 2,000 meters above sea level.
Once there, we’ll explore the famous terraced farms, known for roses, pomegranates, and walnuts. Depending on the season, you can experience the rose harvest or the fruit-laden fields. We’ll visit traditional villages like Al Ayn, where you can stroll through stone houses and admire breathtaking views of the valleys.
After a local lunch or picnic, we’ll enjoy a short scenic walk before returning to Nizwa, taking in the magnificent mountain views along the way. Overnight in Nizwa & Dinner
After breakfast, we’ll depart Nizwa and head towards Salalah, with a stop for an overnight stay in the Empty Quarter Desert (Rub' al Khali), a 3.5-hour drive in our 4WD.
The Empty Quarter is the largest sand desert in the world, famous for its massive dunes, Bedouin lifestyle, and black camel farms. As evening approaches, you'll witness a breathtaking sunset over the golden dunes, where the sky transforms into vibrant shades of orange and pink—an unforgettable desert experience. At night, the desert sky reveals millions of stars.
This iconic desert, featured in films like Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Matrix, also holds ancient lake beds formed by monsoon rains thousands of years ago. After hearing captivating stories of the desert’s culture and history, we’ll enjoy a traditional dinner and stay overnight at a desert camp.
Wake up early to witness the stunning sunrise, followed by breakfast at the camp. Afterward, we’ll depart for Dawkah Valley, the ancient town of frankincense.
Known as the "most beautiful scent of the ancient world," frankincense was once Oman’s main source of wealth, valued as highly as gold over 2,000 years ago. The centuries-old frankincense trees, standing up to 7 feet tall, produce a scent that carries a deep spiritual significance.
Next, we’ll visit the lost city of Ubar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often referred to as the "Atlantis of the Sands." According to legend, Ubar was swallowed by the desert, disappearing without a trace. In 1992, using ancient maps and satellite technology, archaeologists led by Sir Ranulph Fiennes uncovered the remains of this fabled city.
